The deal follows Essex’s 2003 order with Liebherr-Nenzing for a customised variant of the duty cycle model HS 855 renamed the HS 855SX. The success of these duty cycle units paved the way for the latest purchase of more mainstream lift crane machines from Liebherr.

The latest crawler cranes slated for delivery include the LR 1100 a 115t lift crane and a customised variant of the Liebherr model LR 1200. The rating-modified LR 1200 will be marketed as the LR 1200SX.

Essex said: “The LR 1200SX provides excellent lifting capability particularly with long boom and luffing jib configurations. Other outstanding crane features of both the LR 1100 and the LR 1200SX include mobility, high performance, dependability, and speed.”

Ron Schad, president and CEO of Essex Crane Rental Corp., said: “Essex prides itself as the crawler crane experts, and Liebherr has passed the Essex test for dependability and serviceability. Our management team has more expertise in this type of equipment than anyone. We closely monitored the performance of our Liebherr HS 855SX’s and were impressed with their performance”.

Scott Moreland, Vice President of US Sales for Liebherr-Nenzing, added: “Essex’s relationships with crawler crane end users give Liebherr an incredible market opportunity. The feedback provided by Essex enhanced our product development process on the LR 1200. Their design input provides priceless benefits for us, and our customers.”

Gernot Schranz, vice president of Liebherr-Nenzing Crane Company said: “A follow-up order from Essex makes a fantastic statement regarding the quality and value of Liebherr- Nenzing crawler cranes. The Essex team is synonymous with crawler cranes; they know them as well as anyone”. Essex Crane Rental Corp has more than 420 cranes and attachments in its fleet.
