First there was Demag’s Sideways Superlift. Then there was Liebherr’s Y-guy. Now Grove has entered the field with the Mega Wing-Lift, displayed at Intermat on a GMK 7450.
All three boom support systems are designed to provide lateral support to booms in long reach and near vertical configurations. They were developed with the specific needs of wind turbine erectors in mind, and offer exceptional enhancements to lifting capacity when lifting at very short radii.
Neither Demag nor Liebherr showed their systems on cranes at Intermat, so potential buyers did not get the opportunity to see the three systems in close proximity.
Grove’s Intermat pre-publicity made no mention to the Mega Wing-Lift, and so its presence on the 450t all terrain was one of the few real surprises at the show.
