Iowa Mold Tooling (IMT) has expanded its range of wallboard cranes with what it claims is ‘class beating’ reach.
The 24562 hydraulic loader crane is designed for the US building market, where contractors use wallboard cranes to handle and place prefabricated sections. It lifts 885kg at it maximum outreach of 19m. The four hydraulic extensions also offer a maximum vertical height of 23m. The crane also features 420° rotation.
IMT claims that the 24562 (so called because it is rated at 245,000ft/lb and has a 62ft reach) achieves its long reach and high lift-to-weight ratios thanks to its 6.7m span hydraulic outriggers.
Operators have two choices on how to control the crane – through linear controls at the seat on top or by wireless remote that comes as standard with all IMT products.
According to Jim Darr, IMT product specialist: “It typically takes three men to work with a loader of this size. With the wireless remote controls and impeccable accuracy of the loader’s function, IMT has effectively eliminated the need for that third man, and with extensions that deploy in 22 seconds, the 24562 works extremely fast.” As well as a 5100 rated capacity limiter from IMT’s Danish partner HMF, the IMT 24562 features CANbus (Control Area Network bus) technology. With its central hub at the top seat, this technology uses transducers on the crane to monitor its various systems, informing the operator of the crane’s condition at all times. In addition, the rotation system of the hydraulic lifter operates in an oil bath, ensuring consistent lubrication and protection.
IMT also produces the smaller 16000 Series 2 wallboard cranes.
