Konecranes VLC is scheduled to deliver two Panamax ship-to-shore (STS) container cranes in October to St Petersburg, Russia, for ZAO First Container Terminal (FCT). The contract value is approximately E10m.
The Port of St Petersburg is expecting container traffic to grow by more than 30% in 2002. The new cranes are part of an expansion for FCT that also includes opening a new container jetty in 2003.
The cranes are capable of loading and unloading Panamax size vessels. They have a lifting capacity of 50t and a 38.5m outreach. The cranes are equipped with Konecranes’ AC electrical control system. The steel structures are manufactured and the cranes are erected at Konecranes’ factory in Hanko, Finland.
KCI Konecranes’ Russian subsidiary ZAO Konecranes has completed several ship-to-shore container crane modernisation projects for FCT. Technical support for the new cranes will be provided through Konecranes’ office in St Petersburg.
