2024 marks Liebherr’s 75th anniversary. To celebrate the occasion it pulled out all the stops at its Customer Days 2024 event creating a jaw-dropping crane spectacle and welcoming over 3,500 customers and construction press from around the globe over three days (11 to 13 June 2024). This was then followed by a day for employees and their families, plus students from local schools.

The location for Customer Days was Liebherr’s new 7.3 hectare Berg repair centre site, just down the road from its Ehingen factory, as this site provided enough space for the array of cranes on display.

The largest crane showcased was Liebherr’s 2,500 tonne capacity LR12500-1.0 lattice boom crawler crane which it has sold to Sarens. The crane shown is the third of this model to be bought by Sarens.

New LTM 1400-6.1

Liebherr also used the event to present a new six-axle crane mobile crane: the LTM 1400-6.1 which it says is the world’s most powerful six-axle machine on the market. The unveiling of the LTM 1400-6.1 was the climax of the event’s daytime crane show.

The 400-tonner has a 70-metre telescopic boom and is characterised by clever yet simple set-up processes. The new crane is the successor to the LTM 1350-6.1 but with significantly higher lifting capacities. For full details on the new crane see the news story on the Cranes Today website here.

Control systems / remote control

Customer Days also provided an opportunity for visitors to get hands-on with various cranes: crane operators were able to test the superstructure operation of machines equipped with the latest LICCON3 control system and drive mobile cranes via wireless remote control. An LTC 1050-3.1E with electric drive was also available for test drives.

Liebherr also present a new version of its Crane Finder tool – designed to help users find the right crane and the optimum configuration for a specific load. The software has been improved in many areas, says Liebherr, and now includes new integrated features. The Crane Finder is now also available as an app for smartphones and tablets.

After a factory tour, the event concluded with a spectacular drone display as can be seen at the end of our exclusive Cranes Today video (best watched with sound on!).
