German ship owner Bernhard Schulte has placed a $10m order for 28 units of Liebherr-Werk Nenzing’s CBW ship crane.
The cranes, which have a maximum capacity of 40t and an outreach of 29.5m, are to be mounted onto seven 2,500 TEU container vessels being built at one of the world’s largest shipyards, Hyundai Heavy Industries in Korea.
The order was won in October 1999 for delivery between autumn 2000 and autumn 2001. A further three vessels are on option with requirements for 12 more cranes.
Deliveries by the Austrian manufacturer last year included 14 CBS cranes with a capacity of 100t and eight CBS cranes with a capacity of 150t to the Peene Werft in Germany for Scanscot Shipping, Hamburg.
Liebherr also supplied four 40t CCB gantry cranes to Dole Fresh Fruit International for two open-hatch refrigerated container vessels built at HDW-Kiel in Germany.
