The 50155S is equipped with a powered boom and a single piece jib. Manitex said it has the capacity to break the 200ft barrier without the need for a two-piece jib, meaning reduced operator costs due to quicker and simpler set-up. The crane is designed for use in power line construction, as well as other high reach applications.
The first orders are scheduled to ship to Rush Crane Systems and Truck Utilities, both Manitex dealers in North America, in the third quarter of 2009.
“The investment in rebuilding the North American power distribution network is expected to be substantial in the years ahead as indicated by the allocation of USD11bn of funding in the stimulus bill to this sector. Major projects are already commencing or are in planning stages,” said Scott Rolston, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Manitex.
“To serve this market, height and lift with speed of operation are critical. Manitex has again demonstrated its ability to expand the capability of cranes mounted on a commercially available chassis, therefore providing the potential for superior returns to users of our equipment.”
