In Singapore, continued growth has driven the need for new premises and a new office, which welcomed some 80 customers, dealers, and guests for its official opening ceremony in October. In addition to the new office, the site houses an increased capacity Manitowoc Crane CARE warehouse and service facility, offering a larger number of replacement parts, workshop facilities, and a training department.

Personnel additions at the new offices include Lim Chin Meng and Soe Sitt, who are both with the company as Manitowoc Crane CARE service technicians. Lim brings 18 years of experience in the repair and maintenance of crawler cranes and mobile cranes, as does Sitt, a graduate in mechanical engineering with 20 years experience as an engineer. Their responsibilities are to provide field service support to the growing fleet of Manitowoc crawler cranes and Grove mobile cranes in the Asia-Pacific countries. Ben Tan is another new recruit in Singapore, now working as Manitowoc Crane CARE Asia-Pacific’s business system analyst. He has vast experience in vendor management, finance services, and has previously worked as an auditor.

Developments are continuing at the new manufacturing facility in Zhangjiagang, China, which officially opened in May this year. The Manitowoc Crane CARE customer service center is already operational for Potain tower cranes – employing five technicians, a supervisor, and a warranty engineer. An instructor will be added later for training for Grove and Manitowoc products in the same facility. This service will be available in the latter part of 2006.

Also at Zhangjiagang, a tower crane support call center will be ready by the end of this year and will provide technical and customer support to Potain customers in China, before extending its reach across Asia-Pacific at a later stage. Technicians will answer calls in both Chinese and English.

A key new appointment at Manitowoc Crane CARE’s nearby Shanghai office is that of Warren Fors. His key tasks are to provide field service support to Manitowoc crawler cranes in Asia, with a particular focus on the Chinese and South Korean markets. Fors has over 32 years experience in fieldwork activities working with crawler cranes.

Also, in South Korea, Jason Lee and Tae Hyung (Tedd) Kim have joined the team. Lee is the new country manager for South Korea, and is responsible for providing leadership and direction for after-sales service operation in Manitowoc Crane CARE. Kim is a Grove mobile crane service technician.
