Manitowoc has expanded its Rapid Response Shop at its Shady Grove, Pennsylvania facility, aiming to offer faster and more comprehensive repair services for cranes in North America.

The shop now supports all the company’s brands, including Manitowoc, Potain, Grove, and National Crane, and is designed to handle structural and component repairs for equipment that cannot be serviced in the field.

The facility’s expanded capabilities include improved cutting, machining, bending, preparation, and painting services.

These upgrades enable quicker turnaround times for both emergency and routine repairs, with same-day emergency lacing orders available.

Standard delivery times are listed as 24 hours for unpainted lacings and 48 hours for painted lacings. Customers can also access services for fabricated components and structural refurbishment.

According to Manitowoc, the shop features increased lacing-cutting capacity, with two machines operating across two shifts, as well as large plasma, laser, and oxy-fuel cutting tables.

Other resources include CNC equipment, a lathe, milling machines, a boring mill, and press brake capability up to 900USt. Multiple areas are available for blasting, washing, preparation, and painting.

Employees working in the Rapid Response Shop have an average tenure of more than 20 years.

Manitowoc said the strategic location of the Rapid Response Shop within its largest manufacturing facility gives repair teams direct access to additional factory resources, tooling, and expertise as needed.

This arrangement enables the shop to function as a specialised repair hub while maintaining links to the broader manufacturing operations.

Manitowoc OEM-backed refurbishment and remanufacturing programme EnCORE’s product support for parts director Josh Garrington said: “The expansion of the Rapid Response Shop gives customers direct access to Manitowoc’s factory expertise — the welders, technicians, engineers and support teams who understand these machines from the inside out.

“It reflects a broader commitment to supporting customers throughout the full lifecycle of their cranes, with factory-backed resources that keep their equipment working and productive long after it leaves the production line.”
