Manitowoc’s EnCORE partner in Turkey, Karun, refurbished a 17-year-old Grove GMK4100 all-terrain crane for Turkish steel producer İÇDAŞ at Karun’s EnCORE-approved facility in Ankara.

The rebuild began in May 2024 and used 100% Manitowoc-certified, OEM-approved parts following EnCORE standards to restore the crane to near-new condition and original specifications.

Work included a complete mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and structural overhaul; replacement of electrical harnesses and critical components; replacement of all hydraulic and pneumatic hoses; full boom disassembly (telescopic cylinder and five sections) with worn parts replaced and locking parts inspected/updated; installation of a new slewing bearing and superstructure cab; replacement of major components including planetary gears and hydraulic systems; a 1,000-hour maintenance service; repainting with TÜV-certified decals; and final inspections including load and boom extension testing.

Following the rebuild, Karun now plans to refurbish a Grove RT550E next and expand EnCORE services to additional Grove mobile cranes and Manitowoc crawler cranes.
“This GMK4100 has been a dependable workhorse for İÇDAŞ for more than 17 years. Through the EnCORE™ program, we were able to give the crane a second life, ensuring it continues to deliver productive and reliable performance,” said Cihan Bektaş, after-sales manager at Karun.
