Tadano and Kobelco Cranes are recalling more than 1,100 recent model mini rough terrains because of possible problems with engines supplied by Mitsubishi Fuso Truck & Bus Corporation.

The two companies submitted reports to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure & Transport in April, citing possible oil leaks from fuel pipes. Mitsubishi Fuso is itself recalling 13,000 trucks and buses because of the problem.

Tadano is recalling 933 units of the Crevo 250, Crevo 300 and Crevo 350 models, while Kobelco is recalling 174 units of the RK 250-6. All the affected cranes were manufactured between January 2001 and April 2005.

Last year Mitsubishi Fuso recalled 618,000 vehicles for a wide variety of faults, while Tadano and other crane manufacturers had to retrofit more than 9,000 cranes with alarms to warn drivers if they forget to switch the steering to travel mode when leaving site.
