Düsseldorf, Germay-headquartered integrated technology group Rheinmetall and Dutch trailer manufacturer Nooteboom Trailers have agreed to work together to develop and market military heavy equipment trailers.
The partnership, Nooteboom says, is a reaction to the significantly increasing demand for military off-road heavy transport solutions in Europe. The increase is related to the growing operational use of heavy wheeled and tracked vehicles as well as large-scale NATO procurement programmes for battle tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, and self-propelled howitzers.
Nooteboom says the collaboration will reinforce the position of both companies in the field of military mobility, contributing to a more resilient and competitive European defence industry.
The joint solution combines Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles’ mobile tractors with a trailer system, enabling Rheinmetall to provide comprehensive, vertically integrated Heavy Equipment Trailer (HET) solutions. The integrated HET system is designed to transport heavy tracked and wheeled vehicles, including recovery and armoured engineer vehicles.
