Applications include the lifting of Tornado fighters by the 50t Mod 50 system, the handling of machinery installations by the 2t QJ2 and Mod 110s/Mod 250s used during the construction of naval frigates and aircraft carriers.

Modulift says the system provides easy build and storage solutions and can be configured to deal with a number of load weights. This, it says, is suited to the Navy, where “cost, flexibility and storage are necessary requirements”.

Mark Lilley, who trains the Navy in lifting applications, said, “With its unique flexibility, which means the spreader systems can be used over a range of lifts, and it’s lightweight structure, Modulift spreader beams are ideal for the Navy as they offer compact storage capabilities and are easy to transport around the ship.”
