Iain MacGregor, Managing Director for Global Highland, comments: “We have more than 200 construction personnel working throughout the region at present, which is a record number for March. We have never seen levels like this before.
“In recent months we have seen a significant number of businesses coming to the area to carry out much of Scotland’s heavy engineering work. From water works and sewerage plants to schools and hospitals, construction levels in the region are reaching record levels. Although summer is normally the peak time for us, Global Highland is supplying more trades people now than ever before, signalling that this summer could be the busiest one ever.”
Ongoing large-scale developments include The Highland Council’s second Education Public Private Partnership, which will see 11 new urban and rural community schools built across the Highlands. New primary and secondary schools are planned for a number of areas including Dingwall, Culbokie, Inverness and Portree.
Global Highland supplies the construction industry with a range of tradespeople from joiners and bricklayers to steel fixers and plant operators.
