Singapore-based heavy lift services provider Sin Heng Heavy Machinery has taken delivery of a Grove GMK4100L-2 all-terrain crane.
The GMK4100L-2 has a 100 t capacity and 89 m maximum tip height. It is compact, with a minimum width of 2.55 m and chassis length of 11.18 m.
The company’s mobile crane fleet comprises predominantly Grove cranes.
Sin Heng’s new crane was selected following years of use from its GMK4100L predecessor and will be used to service customer base that largely consists of road and building construction contractors.
“We had good experiences with our GMK4100L so the improved load charts of the GMK4100L-2 made it the obvious choice for expanding our fleet,” says C.S. Tan, operations director, Sin Heng. “We often work on job sites where there are space constraints so its small footprint speeds up access and setup in what could otherwise be very tricky conditions. And with its main boom giving a reach of 60 m that’s an added advantage when we’re supporting the construction of tall buildings.”
The GMK4100L-2 has reduced weight and new counterweight versions over the previous GMK4100L-1 model. It can carry up to 6.8 t of counterweight within 12 t per axle. When the remaining counterweight (to a total of 26 t) is needed for full capacity, this can be transported on just one standard trailer.
For heavier lifts, another option is the crane’s heavy-road transport configuration where it can travel with 21.2 t of counterweight at 16.5 t per axle.
The GMK4100L-2 has the latest generation carrier cab designed to offer an ergonomic and user-friendly interior, greater driving comfort, and an intuitive instrument layout. New aerodynamics ensure noise levels are reduced and the overall build quality is superb.
Roadability has been designed to be enhanced for the crane too, with the Grove Megatrak independent suspension system, which is designed to ensure that each of the crane’s eight tyres maintain contact with the ground, keeping stresses and weight evenly distributed.
Fuel consumption is reduced with the single-engine concept and, when operating the 320kW Mercedes-Benz OM470LA unit in ECO mode, the GMK4100L-2 becomes the most fuel-efficient crane in its class, claims Grove. The crane is also 100% HVO fuel compatible.
