Plant relocation specialist Ailsbury Ltd employed six Roto 40.25 MCSS, three 17m lift Panoramics and three smaller 13m units on the job, which were supplied by Scarborough-based Greenwood Hire.
Each Roto 40.25 MCSS telehandler was fitted with a 4t intelligent winch attachment to cope with the lifting of pipework, which has accounted for much of the lifting work. Ailsbury also trained up 30 operators as qualified rotary telehandler drivers for the job.
Five ship loads of larger components have been shipped to Pakistan, along with 400 shipping containers. A total of 80,000 freight tonnes of parts have been catalogued in preparation for re-assembly.
“The Merlos have been fantastic,” said Ailsbury’s logistics manager Grant Thomas. “The Rotos are terrific for loading the containers and for dismantling within the confines of the refinery structures.”
