Terex said it felt it had developed a good design between the crane sizes of the CC 2800 and the CC 6800 with the Superlift 3800. Its lifting capacity is larger than that the CC 2800-1 crawler cranes, enabling them to expand the range of services it offers.

Steil’s general manager Birgit Steil, said "The crane’s design as a whole was what ultimately led to our decision – with a design optimized for transportation and its powerful performance characteristics, this new machine will allow us to tap into a variety of new industrial and wind power potentials," Steil ordered the crane with a 159m LSL and 12m LF configurations; the crane was placed on a wind farm at Gödenroth straight after it was delivered.

The company from Trier, Germany to picked up the new crane at Terex’s Zweibrücken facility in April 2013.
