This 90tm-rated Fassi 900XP – seen here lifting a 13t truck – is thought to be the biggest standard production truck loader crane operating in the UK. It has been put into service by Essex haulier MHS Barwicke, which specialises in handling industrial machinery and relocating factories. The crane can lift 25t at a radius of 3.5m. UK trailer manufacturers were hesitant about handling such loads. ‘It was clear that we were in new territory here, so we were forced to look elsewhere,’ said MHS managing director Steve Holland. ‘Fortunately, the Dutch trailer manufacturer Broshuis was able to come up with a design for a purpose built 7.5m trailer, extendable by a further 2m. Broshuis worked closely with our local Fassi dealer, Walker Crane Services, who engineered, supplied and installed the crane for us.’
