Trump comes to Chicago

Imperial Crane Services teamed up with James McHugh Construction to start work on one of Chicago’s newest skyscrapers. The Trump Tower will overlook the Chicago River at the juncture of the Loop and Michigan Avenue. Rising 92 stories above Chicago, the Tower will be filled with residential and hotel condominiums, office space, and a shopping promenade. “It’s only fitting the highest profile job in Chicago has the highest profile contractor and crane company on site,” states Imperial Vice President Bill Tierney.

When McHugh Construction was awarded the concrete contract for the tower, they were also given the task of erecting the tower crane. Imperial Crane brought a Liebherr LTM 1250 to the site. It took several days for this 300-ton hydraulic crane to erect the massive tower crane, which will eventually exceed 1,000 feet in height. The crane then spent the rest of the three weeks on site hoisting rebar.

The Trump Tower is only one of many projects Bill Tierney has organized with Dale Hendrix of McHugh Construction over the past 20 years.
