Rayco-Wylie has a range of crane-safety systems on display at ConExpo 2017, stand G3878

B&A Engineering was founded on the release of the first Factorate Inspectorate Approval Certificate for Cranes in 1933. A year later, it bought its competitor, Wylie Systems. Using their combined knowledge, the amalgamated companies produced the first mechanical overload warning systems and load indicators.

Revolutionising crane safety, these mechanical systems continued to lead the way into the 1970s.

In 1994, the Rayco Technology Group purchased B&A Engineering, forming Rayco-Wylie Systems. Through combined experience, passion and expertise, the company has been able to develop the W2245, i3000, i3500, i4000, R180 and the latest i4500 crane-safety series.

The i4500 series uses a fullcolour display in 4.3, 7.0 and 10.0in models. This, coupled with self-diagnostics, operator usability, and ease of calibration, keeps the i4500 series ahead of the competition.

The systems use the CANbus J1939 protocol to communicate with each interface, constantly monitoring all the crane’s sensors to give clear accurate information to the operator.

The CANbus network also provides huge amounts of flexibility, allowing the operator to add or remove sensors when required at any time throughout the equipment’s life.

The i4500 series has been developed with versatility in mind, whether it’s in operation in a 5t telescopic mobile, 100t crawler, 80m luffing tower, 10t flat top tower, swanneck tower, port crane, barge crane, rail crane or a complete custom machine.

Rayco-Wylie Systems has also added wired and wireless aluminium load cells and wireless load-pin shackles to its product line. The aluminium load cell ranges in sizes from 6.5 to 500.0t capacity, and the wireless shackles range in sizes from 12.0 to 2,000.0t capacity. The two product lines have a 1,500ft range, an IP67 rating and come with a two-year warranty. 433 or 903Mhz radio modules are also available.

Users can set overload limits in the handheld displays and have the option of transmitting back to a PC to log and store the results.

Rayco-Wylie shackles are available in a range of sizes.
Rayco-Wylie’s crane-safety systems are versatile and user-friendly.
