Bigge sets up strand jack division

California, USA-based Bigge Group has set up a new division to rent out more than 50 Hydrospex strand jacks with capacities ranging from 70 US ton up to 580 US ton, as well as the Super Boom Lift (SBL) series of electronically controlled hydraulic lifting gantries. The SBL series has lifting capacities up to 1,100 tons (1,000 metric tonnes) and lifting heights up to 41 feet (12.7 meters).

Statoil, an international energy business with oil and gas extraction and production facilities across the Norwegian continental shelf and around the North Sea, recently began building a new fuel reduction plant at Kalundborg, near Copenhagen. The EUR67m new plant will be able to extract 30% more fuel oil from crude than the current plant.

Forest Garden, the UK’s largest manufacturer of timber garden products, has received of a Liebherr A 924B HD Litronic materials handler for their mill at Lockerbie, Scotland. Forest Garden has run two A 904 models for around five years at the mill and this latest addition is already proving to be a great asset in the “pick and carry” role for which it was primarily selected.

Repair and modernisation work of High Oven 3 of Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional (CSN)’s Volta Redonda steel mill, near Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, was accelerated when a maintenance problem shut down the plant, Latin America’s largest. Crane rental company Locar supplied a 500t capacity Liebherr LTM 1500 all-terrain, and LR 1750 and LR 1800 crawlers, for contractor Usiminas Mecânica.

Four Liebherr 280 EC-H top slewing tower cranes, ordered from Shiro Machinery, are being used for all lifting duties on the $39m Venetian Macau Resort Hotel. The Venice-themed, Las Vegas-style, casino hotel, will include 3,000 suites, 700 gaming tables and 6,000 slot machines within a 39-storey, 150m high, building.
