Hiap Tong Crane & Transport

15 August 2007

We have a fleet of 150 cranes, including rough terrains, truck-mounted & all-terrain & crawler cranes. Our smallest RT is a 20 tonner and the largest mobile crane is the 800-tonne Liebherr LTM1800 which we purchased in November 2006. This is one of the largest cranes in Southeast Asia.

Our favourite crane is the 250t capacity Demag AC-250. Its 80m main boom has its advantages in a restricted space environment. Our favourite brand is Liebherr. Most of its cranes are user friendly and sturdy.

As to dealing with the problems in shortages of new cranes now, we are acquiring more units. Our 700 tonne-capacity Demag AC-700 crane is pending delivery in early 2008.  Also, we are maximizing the utilization of our cranes by having a better and accurate planning of job schedules.

We are based in Singapore. Forty percent of our cranes are taxi cranes. The majority of our business is with major refineries, shipyards and engineering companies.

Recent work includes assembling a 130t steel lattice rig tower with our Liebherr LTM 1800 and 400t Demag AC 1300 cranes.

Hiap Tong Crane & Transport used its Liebherr LTM 1800 and a tailing crane to flip oxygen tanks to vertical from their horizontal transport position. The cranes needed to coordinate lifting operations to prevent any shock loading. Hiap Tong lifts a vessel
