Northern China shows its stuff

A trio of Chinese organisations, the Chinese Construction Machinery Association, China Construction Machinery Co, and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Machinery Sub-council set up this biennial show in China's capital Beijing. The first was in 1989–the same year as the Tiananmen Square protests.

But without the presence of the international exhibitors showing at the German-organised Bauma China show (late next year), or the US-organised Conexpo Asia show in southern China (Guangzhou, Guangdong Province) in December, this exhibition will probably be of primarily local interest.

The show was planned to be in an interesting new venue, the Beijing BDA International Exhibition Center, set in the grounds of the Beijing Jiuhua Spa and Resort, but construction delays forced the show to return to its older and smaller ground, the National Agricultural Exhibition Centre.

Still, most of the big guns in Chinese-made cranes – XCMG, Puyuan Zoomlion and BQ Tadano, will be there, as will a smattering of international exhibitors, in the general area and in national pavilions.

A big crane draw on the last two days of the show will be the China-Korea-Japan International Crane Symposium, a two-day seminar in participation with the Japanese Crane Association, the Korean Crane Association and the Chinese Construction Machinery Association. The symposium is organised by Cranes Today China magazine partner CMTM.
