Mammoet began working on the project to expand the refinery — the largest in the South American country — in 2011 and completed more than 1,000 lifts and moves, with 150 of the lifts involving loads weighing at least 100t.
At the peak of the project, Mammoet supplied more than 120 cranes, from 18t-1,350t in capacity. The company also provided 154 axle lines of SPMTs, 48 lines of conventional modular trailers and a 900t gantry lift system.
The company established a safety training programme for local staff, a dedicated on-site maintenance shop to service equipment, and supplied 150 staff working for three years on the project. Start-up of the refinery is scheduled for later this year.
