Cropac Equipment has supplied a Terex CTT 472-20t flat-top tower crane for the construction of Canada’s tallest residential building: the 110-storey Pinnacle SkyTower, located on Toronto’s waterfront.

The company, which acts as the official Terex Tower Cranes dealer for Eastern Canada, provided the crane for the project that is part of the broader Pinnacle One Yonge community.

SkyTower, now under construction, is set to redefine Toronto’s skyline as part of what is described as one of the country’s most ambitious residential builds.

Cropac Equipment partnered with Premform, the project’s contractor, from the initial stages to provide a solution capable of meeting the building’s height and schedule demands.

Cropac Equipment senior sales representative Joel Hunt said: “We are proud to have partnered with Premform, contractor of the project, from the earliest stages of the development by providing a lifting solution capable of supporting the project’s ambitious schedule and height requirements.

“Development of this scale requires lifting capacity, great tower versatility, and the ability of adapting to evolving site conditions, while maintaining high-performance throughout every phase of construction.”

The crane employed an anchoring system featuring 16 internal ties, enabling it to climb alongside the growing structure and eventually reach a height of 348m. Its configuration included a 55m jib and tip load of 6.24t.

Equipped with an 80kW hoist, the crane operated at lifting speeds up to 196m per minute, which enabled it to handle material movement throughout different phases of the project.

The crane has been involved in construction activities for four years and is expected to be dismantled in the third quarter of 2026.

In addition to residential units, the completed SkyTower will include hospitality and commercial spaces across its 110 floors, including a Le Méridien hotel at podium level.
